Paul Ward returned from holiday with a bang and his sixth century of the season against Belhus. Ward rattled up 115 in a chanceless knock, unleashing the pull shot to great effect and running the Belhus bowlers ragged. He was ably assisted by John Gunn (33) who shared in an entertaining partnership of 116 for the first wicket, and Dave Shroder, who went on to make 42 once Ward was dismissed. Shroder then starred with the ball, taking a career best 6 for 9 with his off-spin. At times the ball almost turned square as Shroder bamboozled the Belhus batsmen to twice leave himself on a hat-trick. Three more wickets for Gary Snowdon helped finish off the match, but no one could take the glory from Shroder, who cleaned out the last man for a duck and seal the win.
